This project is accessible to all learners aged 14-19 who would like to follow a vocational training course to gain recognised qualifications whilst learning in a work based environment. |

each year group (Years 10 and 11) the learners can follow courses in Hospitality
& Catering, Hair and Beauty, Childcare, Elderly Care or Animal Care/Horticulture.
There are also a series of short courses available that vary from 1 day
to 4 days in length, which are available to all learners or other groups
that the schools may wish to send. |

Practical Skills This is a 1 day course which will cover topics such as interview techniques, budgeting, shopping, communication skills and independent living skills Anger Management Through listening skills and social skills this 2 day course will help young people identify their own emotional triggers and situations that regularly cause them to become agitated and become angry. Stress Awareness Through relaxation techniques young people will learn to identify and combat stressful situations and learn how to avoid them in the future. Entrepreneurial Skills This ongoing short course will enable students to prepare business plans and present their plans to the managing directors of PRP. If the plan is successful they will be given a budget to develop the business of their choice. Team Building Through group activities and exercises the students will learn the importance of teamwork in everyday situations and by solving problems that need everyone to work together to reach a successful conclusion. Confidence Building Through group and lone activities and exercises students will learn how to build their confidence skills. This will enable them to promote themselves in a positive and consistent manner in everyday situations. CLAIT Training This ongoing course will give students the opportunity to gain valuable computer skills. These will be delivered through individual units of which four units must be completed for New Clait and five units for Clait Plus. The following units are available: Unit
1: File Management & E-Documents (Core Unit) Hairdressing (NEW) Diverse
and flexible training at the PRP Training Vocational Hair Academy will
allow all learners with aspiations to join the skilled sector of hairdressing
to experience the environment of a commercial hair salon. CIEH L2 Award in Food Safety in Catering This two-day course will give students the opportunity to learn the basics of food hygiene. This will include safe storage of food; correct cooking methods, safe and hygienic cleaning procedures and how to identify hazards such as pests. The course is concluded with a multiple-choice test. First Aid- Nominated Person CIEH L2 Award in Health and Safety This two-day course will cover the basics of health and safety. Students will learn how to themselves work in a safe manner and to promote safe working practices. The course also includes, fire safety, health and safety rights and responsibilities, using correct and suitable equipment for a task and reporting techniques. This course also has a multiple-choice test at the end. Throughout the year, our students are encouraged to take part in various activites such as internal and external competitions.
